Leak suggests Huawei P60 and Mate 60 to go full Qualcomm

2023 is almost on the horizon, and Huawei is reportedly returning to the dual flagship launch tradition. As per reports, new information reveals that the Huawei P60 and Mate 60 models would go full-on Qualcomm mode. As per the Weibo tipster Wangzai, it has been shown that the Huawei P60 and Mate 60 Series would be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 4G and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 4G chipset, respectively.

The tipster had further said that the Huawei P60 and Mate 60 series would resume the dual flagship tradition. Still, we can assume that Huawei might not use Kirin next year on the flagship smartphone. But we don’t have exact information on what Huawei is planning for these two flagships.

The company has increased the use of Snapdragon chipsets since the launch of the Huawei P50 series. They have taken the step to reduce Kirin chip stock. This year, Huawei unveiled new smartphones and tablets and featured Qualcomm processors in all categories. The flagship, Huawei Mate 50, has been the first to use Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 4G mobile processor. Huawei is likely to stick with Qualcomm going forward, and there are still some issues in Huawei’s supply chain unit.

As per reports, there would be several inputs on the P60 series, and the last one suggested that the phone would be powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2. This would also make sense; since the chip is already launched, it could quickly move on to that platform. It is also expected that the Huawei P60 series could launch near March-April 2023.

But still, we cannot determine the unveiling at the moment. Besides the Huawei P60 series, consumers expect Kirin to return with the Mate 60 string. But a Huawei report confirmed that the chipset would not return next year. But still, they have a lot to explore, and an entire year is waiting for them ahead. We will be able to give further feedback once it is released.
